Accessibility
Built to be usable by everyone.
A visit to River City Aesthetics starts with feeling welcome, and that includes this website. This page explains what we do to keep it accessible, how it was tested, and how to reach us if something is in your way.
Our commitment
River City Aesthetics wants every visitor to be able to read about treatments, meet the team, check hours and prices, and book an appointment, whatever device or assistive technology they use. Accessibility is part of how this site is designed and built, not an add-on.
Our technical target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We work toward that standard across the site and address issues as we find them.
This page describes an ongoing effort, not a certification. No website can guarantee perfect compatibility with every browser, device, or assistive technology, and accessibility is something we continue to work on rather than a box we check once. This statement is not a warranty, is not legal advice, and does not represent formal certification of compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, WCAG, or any other law or standard. If something here falls short of that goal, we want to know about it and will work to fix it.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML with proper landmarks, one meaningful heading per page, and a logical heading order
- Full keyboard operation, a skip-to-content link, visible focus indicators, and no keyboard traps
- Color choices checked for WCAG contrast on every text and surface combination
- Links that are identifiable by underline, not by color alone
- Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images, and empty alt text for decorative ones
- Accessible dialog behavior for the monthly specials popup: focus management, Escape to close, and no repeated reopening after dismissal
- Animations that respect your system's reduced-motion preference automatically
- Layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling down to small screens and at 200% browser zoom
- Status messages announced to assistive technology when filters and settings change
- An Accessibility Options panel, available on every page, for adjusting text size, contrast, fonts, link highlighting, focus visibility, motion, and heading emphasis
The Accessibility Options panel is a convenience, not a substitute. The site is built to remain accessible even if you never open it, and your choices are saved only in your own browser.
How it was tested
- Automated axe-core scans (WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 A and AA rule sets) on every page
- Keyboard-only walkthroughs of navigation, menus, filters, dialogs, and booking paths
- Inspection of the accessibility tree exposed to screen readers for names, roles, and states
- Reflow checks at a 320 CSS-pixel viewport and 200% zoom
- Reduced-motion verification with the system preference enabled
- Color-contrast measurement of the site's palette combinations, including the high-contrast modes
Automated tools cannot catch everything, so manual checks focused on focus order, control names, dialog behavior, and screen reader output. We recommend periodic spot-checks with VoiceOver and NVDA as content changes.
Third-party content we do not control
Several parts of the experience are hosted by other companies, on their own platforms, under their own accessibility practices. We chose reputable providers and link to them thoughtfully, but we cannot guarantee their pages meet the same standard this site targets, and we cannot fix issues on their end. Where a third party is involved, we provide a direct alternative, most often our phone number.
- Boulevard. Booking, appointment management, memberships, the Beauty Bank accounts, packages, and gift cards all run through Boulevard, a separate booking platform with its own interface and accessibility features. If any part of it is difficult to use, call or text us and we will book you directly, no website required.
- Cherry. Payment plans are applied for and managed on Cherry, a separate financing platform. We can talk through costs and options by phone first.
- Google Maps. The map on our Visit page is an embedded Google Map. The street address and a text directions link are always provided alongside it, so the location is never conveyed by the map alone.
- Google Business Profile. Our star rating and Google reviews are hosted and displayed by Google, on Google's own site.
- Instagram and skincare shops. Links to our Instagram, Alastin, and ZO Skin Health pages lead to other companies' websites, which we do not build or maintain.
External and booking links open in a new browser tab so you never lose your place on our site; each link's accessible name says where it goes.
